The journey from adolescence to adulthood can be challenging, especially for struggling teens who face various emotional, behavioral, and academic difficulties. Discover Seven Stars has emerged as a beacon of hope for parents and guardians seeking effective therapeutic solutions for their teens. Discover Seven Stars is a pioneering residential treatment program combining adventure therapy and residential treatment to provide a holistic and informed approach for neurodiverse teens. In this blog post, we will explore the unique elements of the Discover Seven Stars program, its core principles, and how it helps struggling teens unlock their potential and embrace a brighter future.
1. Individualized Treatment Plan:
Discover Seven Stars recognizes the uniqueness of each teenager, as diverse underlying factors influence their struggles. Each student’s treatment plan is established through understanding the level of support and therapeutic needs of each student. Our staff looks at the teen’s emotional, social, academic, and physical needs in order to build a strong treatment plan.
This comprehensive approach aims to develop a complete understanding of their challenges and strengths. The program adopts a patient and empathetic approach, fostering a trusting relationship with each individual. The curriculum is thoughtfully tailored to their neurodiverse background and specific requirements.
2. A Perfect Blend of Enrichment and Clinical Treatment:
At Seven Stars, students are immersed in the wonderful activities our local community and environment has to offer. These outlets provide a range of experiences that foster personal growth, resilience, and self-reliance. All these activities are thoughtfully interwoven with evidence-based clinical treatment, encompassing individual therapy, group therapy, and skill-building sessions. This comprehensive approach allows teens to explore and address the root causes of their struggles, which may be more easily uncovered in dynamic activities, in a supportive environment.
Throughout the program, students engage in a variety of enriching activities. Weekly equine experiences provide a unique opportunity for growth and learning. Additionally, at the Abilities Center in Park City, diverse activities further enhance their development. Social excursions in the community provide practical settings for applying the skills they have acquired on campus.
Therapy sessions offer valuable experiences and feedback on peer relationship dynamics, fostering a safe and forgiving learning environment. Collaborating with others who share the same goals contributes to building lifelong skills, creating a strong foundation for the students’ personal and social development.
3. A Strengths-Based Approach:
Rather than focusing solely on the teen’s challenges, Discover Seven Stars adopts a strengths-based approach, emphasizing their unique talents, interests, and abilities. By nurturing these positive aspects, teens gain a newfound sense of self-worth and confidence, empowering them to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. Experiential therapy can be an incredibly beneficial tool for our students.
Goals are reached every day with the student leading their comfort level. For example, if the group goes indoor rock climbing, they may only wear the harness on the first day. On the second day, maybe they hook up to the wall. They will slowly build their confidence and comfort and excel in tasks they never thought possible.
4. Academic Support and Skill-Building:
Recognizing the importance of academic success, Discover Seven Stars provides tailored academic support to help struggling teens catch up on their studies and regain a sense of accomplishment. Furthermore, the program emphasizes skill-building in emotional regulation, social communication, and problem-solving, equipping teens with essential life skills to navigate various challenges successfully.
5. A Collaborative Family Involvement Model:
Discover Seven Stars firmly believes family is pivotal in a teen’s healing journey. Thus, the program promotes family involvement through regular therapy sessions, workshops, and seminars. By improving family dynamics and fostering open communication, the entire family unit can experience healing and growth together. Often, families lack the tools to support their neurodivergent child. Having family members share what works and how they can implement those ideas into daily life eases the transition between the treatment center and home. Our goal is a healthy and safe family that feels confident and trusting.
6. Continued Care Support:
The journey towards lasting transformation continues after completing the Discover Seven Stars program. To ensure sustained success, Discover Seven Stars provides comprehensive aftercare support. Teens and their families are connected with appropriate resources, therapists, and support networks in their home community to maintain progress and build upon the skills learned during the program.
Discover Seven Stars is a leading therapeutic program that empowers struggling teens to overcome challenges and embrace a brighter future. Combining neurodiverse-informed programming with individualized, evidence-based clinical treatment, Seven Stars provides a comprehensive approach that fosters growth, resilience, and personal development. Through this innovative blend of activities, therapy, and support, Discover Seven Stars lights countless teens’ paths to discover their potential and thrive in all aspects of life.
