What are Sensory Rooms?
Sensory rooms provide a haven where students can explore and regulate their sensory experiences. These purposefully designed spaces incorporate elements such as soothing lights, tactile features, enveloping seating, and calming sounds, meticulously curated to cater to the unique needs of each student.
Beyond being aesthetically pleasing, these sensory rooms act as powerful tools to amplify concentration, alleviate stress, and provide opportunity for self-regulation. By providing a controlled and sensory-friendly environment, these rooms play a crucial role in nurturing a positive and inclusive educational atmosphere.
The use of sensory rooms at Seven Stars goes beyond aesthetics; it’s a strategic tool to enhance concentration, reduce stress, and promote self-regulation. By embracing the power of sensory-friendly environments, we create an environment that fosters emotional well-being and allows our students to thrive.
Seven Stars is a residential treatment program within Elevations RTC for adolescents of all genders ages 13–17 who present with autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, executive functioning deficits, and learning differences. Seven Stars bases its therapeutic environment on a strengths-based relational and social learning model, combining residential treatment, classroom academics, adventure opportunities, and experiential therapy. The program is located in Syracuse, UT, just north of Salt Lake City.
