AUTISM

Noun

Autism is defined as a neurological and a developmental disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate or interact with others. It is a mental and social disorder accompanied with repetitive behavior and difficulty in communication. It can happen to anyone regardless of their age or ethnicity, however, it is found to be four times more common in males as compared to females. A child suffering from this disease may not show signs until the age of one or two. A child suffering from a regressive type of autism shows signs of forgetting previously acquired language or communication skills.

There is no known cure for autism yet. However, early diagnosis followed by special treatment and education are available for children suffering from autism, this can help them develop more properly and independently and can prevent negative behavior from taking over.

The method of treatment depends on the individual and the type of autism they have. While some autism disorder like autism spectrum disorder, require a lifetime treatment, others can be accomplished by having a combination of different treatment plans.
